We cannot express how grateful we were for all your help.  Everything went as smooth as it could possibly go (you’d never know it was Ajax Rotary’s first attempt!).  Having said that, none of this would have been possible if it was not for you!!!!  We wish to thank our neighboring Rotary Clubs of Pickering and Whitby, who came out to help – “many, many thanks!!!” – including our past District Governor Ted Koziel and his lovely wife.  The other groups were the girls’ soccer team “thank you coach Bill, girls and moms!”  And the boys’ basketball team who helped us set up from 8 – 10am, “Thank you Fred and boys”.  We also had members of Durham Trillium Quilters’ Guild, workers and their families from Ajax Library and of course our own Ajax Rotary Club.  I am sorry if I missed any groups, but we had over 100 volunteers!!!!!!!  THANK YOU AGAIN!

We would also like to thank some people who donated to this cause:

Sher’s 5 Star Catering – donated the coffee, tea, cups, stir sticks, etc.

Salvation Army, Ajax – donated the space, tables and chairs

Ajax Public Library – donate extra tables

And last but not least, Coffee Culture Café, Whitby location (#2Hwy and Glenn Hill Dr. - just west of Thickson) for a huge cash contribution to help us buy the food for packaging.

Your generous donation of your time, effort and compassion to give, was very much appreciated and you should all be proud.  You have helped package just over 40,000 meals which will be going to Salvation Army, Ajax and Haiti.

Last but not least, there are 3 people to thank:

Wayne McConnachie from Kids Against Hunger

Fred Mandryk from Bowmanville Rotary Club, and

Roger from Lakefield for helping both days!

Here is what Wayne from Kids Against Hunger had to say on his email to our club on Monday:

“The end result – one terrific event!  This was well organized – much thanks goes to Donna Bright, Kleo Tobias, Fred Mandryk, and let’s not forget all those volunteers!  They were superb.  The production lines went very well and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  There was interest expressed from individuals that they would like to see more of this.  If memory serves me right we were finished packing around 3pm and cleanup done around 4pm.  I want to thank those that had patience with me for the cleanup and loading of the trailer & van during the last hour.  The time spent in washing, labeling and organizing things appropriately makes the next events much easier – and I really appreciate that a lot!  Again thank you.”

On behalf of the Ajax Rotary Club and the organizing committee -- Donna Bright & Kleo Tobias, we thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for giving so freely.

Have a terrific day, knowing you have helped many,

Kleo Tobias
