Eligibility Requirements for Employment in
2020 Rotary Summer Respite Care Program
 
The Rotary Club of Bowmanville, with the support of the Canada Summer Jobs Program, offers summer employment for young persons as Respite Care Givers in its Summer Respite Care Program.  To be eligible, an applicant must:
a.  be between 17 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

​b.  have an educational background in a field of study related to child
     care such as nursing, teaching, early childhood education, social
     work, etc.
c.  be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom
     refugee protection has been conferred
d.  have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to
     work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations
​e.  have a valid G2 or G class drivers license and full daily access to a car
f.  have a clear and current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable
     Sector Screening
g.   have current Level C CPR certification from a recognized provider
h.   have standard First Aid certification from a recognized provider
i.   be prepared to work the hours outlined in the Respite Care Giver
     Job Description

We offer eleven (11) weeks of employment from June 15, 2020 to August 28, 2020.  The first week is an orientation session and a "meet-and-greet" with the families and an accumulation of hours promoting the Respite Care Program at the Bowmanville Rockin' Rotary Ribs and Brews Festival June 12 to 14, 2020.
  During the remaining ten (10) weeks you will be providing respite care for the special needs children assigned to you.  We guarantee a rolling average of 35 hours per week at a wage of $15.50 per hour plus a mileage allowance $0.45/km for your car.  You are also provided with a tote of games and activities plus a modest stipend to pay for your incidentals such as outings with the children.

Employment in this program provides valuable career experience for students in nursing, teaching, early childhood education, child and youth services, developmental services, and other related programs.
