Bowmanville Rotarian Bob Stevens, who has left the Club after almost 69 years to spend more time with his wife, Jean, was honoured during the Four-Club meeting held at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club on September 24, 2019.  Bob joined the Rotary Club of Bowmanville on December 8, 1950 and has had perfect or near perfect attendance at the weekly meetings every year since.  Bowmanville Rotary President Jason Van Stiphout introduced Jean and Bob and announced that Bob had been inducted back to the Club as an Honourary Member.  He's not getting away that easily!  Jason was also pleased to be able to present Bob with a Paul Harris Fellowship +8 which recognizes Bob's generous contribution of over $9,000 US to The Rotary Foundation.

Bob didn't stop his support for Rotary at PHF+8.  Past District Governor (2015-2016) and District 7070 Foundation Chair Michael Bell presented Bob with a Rotary Foundation Major Donor Citation, a medal for Bob, a necklace for Jean, and a Foundation Crystal in recognition of Bob's gift of more than $10,000 to The Rotary Foundation.  Jean was also presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers by Club Secretary Lynda Mayes.

Last but certainly not least, Bob was presented with a framed 60 Year Rotary Hall of Fame Certificate by District 7070 Governor Beth Selby.  The frame was signed by many of Bob's Rotary friends.

Bob and Jean were a little overwhelmed by the recognition but it couldn't have happened to a more dedicated and deserving couple.  Bob truly exemplifies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self"
